What is CLEAN Yu LAND?

CLEAN Yu LAND is a cleaning support project led by Keio Corporation in collaboration with local bathhouses (sento) and public baths.
Its goal is not only to make spaces cleaner, but also to bring out the true charm of each facility and create an environment where people in the community can relax comfortably.
This first initiative took place at Jindai-yu, a long-loved bathhouse in Chofu, Tokyo. By carrying out this project in a place so deeply rooted in the community, we aim to explore the real value that thorough cleaning can bring. At CLEAN Yu LAND, we believe in “the value that lies beyond cleaning.” Through this challenge, we hope to preserve and pass on the culture of Japanese bathhouses to the future.

A Variety of Baths, Including an Open-Air Rock Bath

At Jindai-yu, youʼll find a wide range of baths designed to ease away daily fatigue. Choose from options like the electric bath, body massage bath, high-power jet bath, reclining bath, or seated bath ̶ each offering a different kind of relaxation. Thereʼs also a daily special bath, with changing ingredients that bring a new experience every visit. Up a short flight of stairs, youʼll discover an open-air rock bath, a serene space where you can unwind in peace while surrounded by fresh air.

The Special “Bad Gastein Mineral Stone”

Jindai-yu sets itself apart by using the rare Bad Gastein mineral stones, valued worldwide, in every single bath. Visitors often say the water feels softer on the skin and warms the body from within, giving this traditional neighborhood bathhouse a touch of luxury. What makes Jindai-yu even more unique is that these stones are also used in the cold-water bath ̶ something found in only a handful of bathhouses in Tokyo. The combination of pure water and the minerals creates a gentle, refreshing sensation that many describe as “something you can only experience here.” Being able to enjoy the stonesʼ qualities in both warm and cold baths is a rare indulgence that Jindai-yu proudly offers.
